Overview:
  • Assist product engineering in performing change management of documents, including introduction of new parts, redesign of existing parts, and obsolescence of existing parts.
  • Intern will gain overall understanding of connector manufacturing by working on a project that involves stamping, molding and assembly processes.
  • Be involved in or assist in managing product extension projects.


Responsibilities & Qualifications:
  • UL files - gain an understanding of our current UL files and cost associated with maintaining these files.  Determine if our file strategy is the most cost effective way to obtain our UL listing/registration.  Propose lower cost alternatives/strategies and present to mgmt and engineering at the end of summer term
  • Office Box Facelift/Cat 6 integration – work with designer to integrate shielded interface housing into our MUO box.  Give MUO overall facelift considering aesthetics as one of the key features. 
  • Integrate HDMI into product offering for A/V applications.  Project would include looking for panel mount HDMI connectors that could integrate into our current faceplate line.  May include insert design.
  • Modular plugs – Streamlining project/cost reduction project, assist in contact project
  • Set up a database/spreadsheet that will track metrics for product engineering department
  • Power takeoffs (specials) as needed
  • Engineering change assistance as needed
  • FMEA assistance as needed
  • Work with product engineers to procure quotes/samples from vendors.
  • Must have a minimum of 1 yr complete toward either BSME or BSEE degree.
  • Must have or be able to learn basic blueprint/schematic skills. 
  • Must be able to learn to understand applicable Industry Codes and Specifications such as National Electrical Code (NEC), UL, National Electrical Manufacturer's Association (NEMA), IEC and TIA/EIA.
