Overview:

 

Tyco Electronics' Aerospace Defense & Marine Division is uniquely qualified to provide innovative solutions for a variety of applications from ruggedized interconnects, fiber optic products, and sealed harness assemblies to high-performance relays and power distribution units.

 

The Aerospace, Defense & Marine Division is seeking an innovative Product Development Engineer to join our Development Engineering Team in Harrisburg, PA.

 

In this challenging and rewarding position, you will be responsible for the conceptualization, design, engineering analysis and qualification of ruggedized, high performance connectors for Aerospace, Defense & Marine markets. Within a simultaneous engineering team environment, you will develop designs which meet demanding performance objectives and cost targets. As a Product Development Engineer, you will also interface with project managers, customers, field sales, advanced manufacturing, model shop and test labs.



Responsibilities & Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, with minimum of 5 years experience in electrical connector development and an understanding of related manufacturing technologies such as molding, stamping, plating and assembly, is preferred.

Candidates experienced with composite polymers and environmentally sealed connectors are desirable. Candidate must have 3D design/modeling skills. Demonstrated capability in mechanical analysis utilizing tools like ANSYS, Crystal Ball, Design Discovery and Minitab is preferrable. Demonstrated knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean Design tools is advantageous. The ideal candidate should have proven problem solving ability, strong oral and written communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
