Overview:

 

Development engineer responsible for supporting the conceptualization, design and qualification of ruggedized, lightweight interconnect hardware for military and aerospace markets. You will work closely with customers, sales, product management, manufacturing, model shop and test lab in a simultaneous engineering environment.  The primary functions of your position will involve investigations of the electrical and mechanical properties of polymer composite materials and products. Duties include meeting performance and cost objectives and for supporting projects from design through prototype, test and transfer to high volume production.



Responsibilities & Qualifications:

 

Requirements include proficiency in the following:

  • Familiarity with electrical and mechanical characterization of materials and in the application of measured parameters in modeling real-world products
  • Mechanical design of products utilizing high performance polymers
  • AutoCAD (2D) or equivalent
  • 3D CAD design, Pro/Engineer Wildfire preferred
  • Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) analytical tools
  • Six Sigma processes and tools

 

Preferences include some working knowledge of the following:

 

  • Manufacturing techniques for metal and plastic products
  • Rapid prototyping tools and techniques
  • Military / aerospace electrical interconnect products

 

A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Material, or Electrical Engineering, with some experience (possibly as an intern) in product design and manufacturing is preferred.  This is a "hands-on" engineering position.  The candidate must be a highly motivated, detail oriented person who is a self-starter, with good organizational skills and good interpersonal skills.  Strong oral and written communication skills are required.
