Overview:

The Business Development Manager will develop new business opportunities in coordination with field sales personnel.  This position is focused on developing the wind market at multiple touch points with OEM Turbine manufacturers, Wind Farm developers, Contractors, Consulting Engineers and subcontractors, while being the lead field contact for the development of new alternative energy wind business and product solution offerings.  You will also have key account responsibility for the accounts which have corporate headquarters within your assigned region.

 

Tasks for this role consist of identifying prospective customers by using business directories, following leads from existing customers, participation in industry organizations, attending trade shows and conferences, and conducting personal research on new developments within the wind industry.  In addition, this person will attend sales, trade, standards groups and government meetings, and read related publications in order to obtain information about market conditions, business trends and industry developments within your region and about the key accounts.  The successful candidate will visit existing accounts to evaluate needs and to promote product solutions, along with selecting the correct products or assist customers in making product selections based on accounts' needs, product specification and applicable regulations.  Other responsibilities include, contacting area Sales Engineers within various business units to discuss the opportunities available in the wind market for Tyco Electronics, creating an maintaining detailed customer records, using automated system to capture all key contact information, opportunities, values, etc.  In addition this person will prepare customer specific sales presentations and proposals that explain product specifications and applications relative to the customers requirements and provide customers with ongoing technical support in conjunction with the responsible business unit and Sales Engineer. 



Responsibilities & Qualifications:

BSEE degree is preferred with three years of wind related engineering or business development experience.  Individual must have strong written and verbal communication skills.  Analytical skills is needed along with strong interpersonal skills.  Individual must be detail oriented with strong problem solving skills.  Tyco Electronics is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
