| Overview: |
The Field Applications Engineer (FAE) will provide technical pre-sales and/or integration assistance to the customers of Tyco Electronics and Elo TouchSystems.
|
| Responsibilities & Qualifications: |
Responsibilities - Assists customer in determining the appropriate solution by understanding their detailed applications requirements, specifications and environment.
- Translates customer project needs, issues, quality levels and later service needs into viable solution-driven specifications.
- Translates customer needs in robust internal specifications and coordinates the solution with the Business Development Managers (BDM), Product Line Managers (PLM) and R&D communities.
- Evaluates feasibility of projects and provides input on the scope of effort required to achieve success.
- Assesses and documents the specific project requirements and environment.
- Supports the sales team in building appropriate proposals and presentations.
- Documents and reports any problems during the implementation phase.
- Obtains written customer satisfaction confirmation.
- Becomes and acts as the program manager for this customer (takes ownership, communicates, tracks, coordinates manuals - installation instructions)
- Provides customer training.
- Provides feedback to engineering to ensure that ELO products consistently meet customer expectations.
- Participates in sales presentations to customers and/or business partners.
- Participates in beta testing of products.
- Acts as an applications engineering resource for all Elo departments and Sales.
- Informs Sales about prospective sales opportunities.
- Accountable for global account project management/leadership, including but not limited to: global project coordination, account relationships.
- Meet with executives, engineering and purchasing community, collaborating with Elo's Engineering, BDM and PLM communities, new product training, and assuring customer satisfaction.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities - Extensive knowledge of electronic components/systems.
- Ability to build strong customer relationships
- Ability to lead/manage customer projects.
- Ability to coordinate projects across entire Elo product organization.
- Ability to travel globally.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to deliver formal presentations to senior engineering/purchasing staff.
- Ability to negotiate technical content with executives at all levels of an organization.
- Ability to analyze customer needs and product requirements and deliver complete systems solutions.
- Ability to manage key customer projects and drive increased revenue while maintaining the company's financial goals.
- Ability to troubleshoot specific customer related application challenges and coordinate/implement field upgrades of software and/or hardware.
Experience/Education - Four year engineering degree required.
- 5-10 years Applications Engineering experience and proven track record.
