Overview:

 Supervises employees with considerable variation is skills from manual job duties to skilled tool & die makers. Candidates will have on a shift basis the responsibility for assisting in coordinating, supporting and directing department employees, materials and equipment in the assembly operation. This supervisor will coordinate the efforts of employees & work centers to insure that product is produced in quantity, with quality and with proper schedule to meet customer requirements. The supervisor will be familiar with Corporate, and Plant personnel policies, plans and procedures and will implement as needed.  



Responsibilities & Qualifications:

 

Supervises employees engaged in hand and machine assembly operations utilizing assembly machines, fixtures and hand tools to assemble various company products.

 

Utilizes production control schedules to determine work load and operations necessary. Determines schedule based on type of work, machines, equipment, and manpower and time available, due dates, etc. and compensates for changes in resources and other type problems encountered. Assigns employees to jobs based on need and experience.

 

Works with other departments to resolve everyday production problems associated with manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, quality engineering and production control. Contacts maintenance for repair of machines or equipment when necessary. Maintains contact with HR for situations pertaining to employee relations, benefits, etc. Maintains and implements safety training.

 

Responsible for the proper instructions and training of operators in machine or equipment use, proper procedures or methods to utilize and assures that employees are familiar with job duties and with Company rules and procedures.

 

Resonsible for product value add throughout the manufacturing process.  Ensure that tolerances and quality standards are maintained taking necessary corrective action where needed by working with upstream and downstream customers.

 

Assumes responsibility for consistent application of established employee relations policies and practices.

 

Maintains various departmental records and prepares reports when necessary pertaining to manufacturing, productivity, scrap, etc. Will help develop manpower needs as required.

 

Responsible for keeping all work areas clean and orderly and actively participates in operational effectiveness activities.

 

Maintains the morale, motivation and remains consistent in dealing with relationships of the work force.

 

Performs annual performance reviews with each employee. Performs other various responsibilities as assigned by the production supervisor.

 

Prefer candidates with a minimum of five years supervisory experience in a high pace manufacturing environment.

 

Off-shift work schedule flexibility required.

 

Familiararity with stamping and or plating operations a plus.
